Crni vrh

Crni vrh is a 1,110-metre peak in the Velebit massif above Seline, in the Starigrad municipality. It rises in the central part of Paklenica National Park and forms one of the notable waypoints on the Velebit long-distance hiking trail (Velebitski planinarski put), a roughly 100-km route marked with the classic red-and-white mountaineering signs.

How do you get to Crni vrh?

The usual starting point is Seline or the neighbouring Starigrad Paklenica – coastal villages at the foot of Velebit that also serve as gateways to the national park. From the car park at the entrance to the Velika Paklenica canyon, the trail heads inland past the mountain hut and continues to Velika Močila, a basin-shaped valley sitting at around 850 metres above sea level. From there, the path climbs on to the summit of Crni vrh itself. A second approach comes from the southeast, also passing near Velika Močila, so in practice hikers can reach the peak from two main directions that merge into a single final stretch.
