About this place
Troggia Falls in Introbio is a 100-metre waterfall in the Valsassina valley, Lecco province, Lombardy. The Troggia stream originates at Lake Sasso at the foot of Pizzo Tre Signori, flows through the Biandino valley, then plunges vertically into a pool before disappearing underground and rejoining the Pioverna stream. Leonardo da Vinci mentioned the falls in his Codex Atlanticus; in older texts the site was known as 'Dog's Paradise'. The waterfall is visible from the main road; a 1 km path from the Ciresa premises leads to a viewpoint. Direct access to the base is currently restricted due to hydrogeological instability.
