Cascata dello Sprizzottolo in Introbio is one of the most accessible and picturesque waterfalls in Valsassina — a valley in the province of Lecco, Lombardy. The water plunges between rocks into a cloud of white foam, surrounded by dense forest at around 580 metres above sea level, just 10 km from Lecco.

How to reach the waterfall

The Sprizzottolo lies directly alongside the scenic cycle and pedestrian path connecting Barzio to Taceno, a route of approximately 13 km that is one of the valley's main recreational trails — popular with both cyclists and walkers. A short side path of about 300 metres through the forest branches off from the main track to reach the waterfall. No mountain experience is required: the route is suitable for families and visitors of all fitness levels.

The waterfall sits on the border between the municipalities of Pasturo and Introbio, near the Pioverna stream. At the cascade you will find a characteristic small bridge — one of the most photographed spots in this part of the valley.

The water drops between rocks and breaks into a spray of foam and mist — a striking sight especially after heavy rainfall when the stream is at its fullest. The surroundings are surprisingly quiet given the proximity to Lecco: the forest absorbs most sound, leaving only the rush of water. It makes a natural rest stop on a cycling or walking route through Valsassina, and a cool refreshment point in summer.
