SKIAREÁL KLÍNOVEC

Jachymów, Czechia

About this place

Skiareál Klínovec is the largest ski resort in the Czech Ore Mountains (Krušné hory), located right next to Jáchymov, a town famous as the site of the world's first radon spa. The resort was formed by merging three formerly separate ski areas – Klínovec, Neklid and Boží Dar – and today ranks among the most extensive skiing complexes in the Czech Republic.

Where is Skiareál Klínovec located?

The resort sits on the slopes of Klínovec peak, the highest point of the Ore Mountains, roughly 15 km from Karlovy Vary, 100 km from Plzeň and 120 km from Prague. Its proximity to Jáchymov lets skiers combine a day on the slopes with a visit to one of the oldest radon spas in the world.

What does the resort offer skiers?

Skiareál Klínovec provides 31.5 km of pistes, including the longest ski run in the Czech Republic at 3,400 metres. Visitors also have access to around 49 km of cross-country trails looping around the massif, making the area one of the country's most popular destinations for cross-country skiing.

Slopes are covered by artificial snowmaking and groomed daily, keeping the season stable throughout winter regardless of natural snowfall.

What is the InterSkiregion?

Klínovec is part of the cross-border InterSkiregion project, connecting Czech and German ski resorts on both sides of the mountain range. A single ski pass grants access to a combined 47 km of slopes on the Czech and German sides, making this area unique on the map of Central European skiing.

What facilities are available for visitors?

The resort offers full tourist infrastructure: ski and snowboard rental, ski schools for adults and children, childcare services, and restaurants and refreshment stops along the slopes. The surrounding area has a wide range of accommodation options suited to both families and larger ski groups.

Is Klínovec only a winter destination?

No – the resort also operates in summer, offering mountain biking trails, hiking paths and viewpoints at the summit of Klínovec. During the warmer months, the lift infrastructure is often used to carry cyclists and hikers up the mountain, from where views stretch across the Ore Mountains and into the neighbouring German border region.
