Over time the dedication changed to "Nosa Señora dos Remedios" (Our Lady of Remedies), the name it still carries today. In 1650, a confraternity named "Dulce Nome de Xesús" (Sweet Name of Jesus) was founded at the church, and for centuries it was responsible for the upkeep of the building and its devotions.

After visiting the church, walk down to the port, one of the most attractive spots on the whole Costa da Morte, and continue on to the Osmo and Arnela beaches or to Praia da Ermida, the largest and calmest beach in the area, backed by a pine forest.
