About this place
Rytro Castle is a medieval castle ruin standing on a hill above the Poprad River in southern Poland, near Sucha Struga. Built in the 14th century, it once protected a trade route running through the Beskid Sądecki area. Today it is a quiet stop for a short visit with a bit of history and valley scenery.
Na miejscu można liczyć przede wszystkim na:
- preserved castle walls and the base of the tower, which give a clear sense of the former stronghold’s layout,
- a hilltop setting above the Poprad River, with open views over the valley and the surrounding landscape,
- traces of a medieval defensive site that once watched over an important route through Beskid Sądecki.
For the visit, it is worth wearing comfortable shoes, as the approach to a hill ruin can be uneven, and checking the weather before you go. This is a good choice for travelers who like compact sightseeing spots, local history, and a short outing with views.
