Rozhledna Špulka

Rozhledna Špulka stands on top of Březák, the highest hill in the Chopos microregion, right above the village of Lbosín in the Benešov district of Central Bohemia. It's one of the more distinctive lookout towers in the region — not just for the view, but for the unusual shape that gave it its name.

Where does the name come from?

The tower is called "Špulka," the Czech word for a bobbin or spool of thread, because its silhouette really does resemble one — narrower at the bottom and top, wider in the middle. The design comes from architect Iveta Torkoniaková, and the structure combines steel, wood, and stone. Construction began on April 27, 2013, and the tower opened to visitors a year later, on April 26, 2014.

The tower is open continuously throughout the year, with occasional exceptions due to weather conditions such as strong wind or icy stairs. Admission is voluntary — there's no fixed entrance fee, only the option to leave a donation toward the tower's upkeep. A refreshment stand operates nearby from April to October.
