Přílepy Chateau

Přílepy Chateau is a modest but characterful manor in the village of Přílepy, in the Kroměříž district of the Zlín Region, about 18 km east of Kroměříž. The two-story, rectangular building with its corner tower and pseudo-Renaissance facade stands within a freely accessible park full of old, valuable trees — a place where history and everyday community life meet.

In 1603, Václav Nekeš of Landek bought the estate and rebuilt it into a small, single-story Renaissance chateau. After the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, the estate was confiscated from the Protestant owner Ctibor Žernovský of Žernová and sold to František Zdeněk Lev of Rožmitál, who attached it to his Žeranovice estate.

The chateau complex also includes a chapel dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and the whole site — chateau and park together — is protected as a historic monument. The Seilern family kept the estate until World War II, when it was nationalized.

Since 2022, the chateau has been undergoing a reconstruction costing roughly 35 million Czech crowns. The work has created a community hall inside the building, and the municipal office and library have moved in as well. A kindergarten is also planned for the adjacent farm building — meaning Přílepy Chateau today is very much a working, lived-in place rather than a museum piece behind glass.
