Parque la República

Parque la República is one of the largest municipal parks in Alcorcón, a town on the southwestern edge of the Madrid metropolitan area. Covering roughly 10 hectares between Calle Pablo Picasso and Calle Institutos, it combines green open space with sports facilities and a venue for large-scale local events.

What can you do in the park?

Parque la República was designed for active, family-oriented use rather than quiet strolling alone. It has five regulation-marked sports courts equipped with basketball hoops and futsal goals, plus a separate artificial-turf football pitch. Anyone interested in outdoor exercise can use the biosaludable circuit, a set of free public fitness stations aimed at adults and older visitors. Children are catered for with dedicated play areas, and the park's recreational and play zones together cover about 6,400 square meters. Dog owners have access to a fenced-off area where animals can be let off the leash.

In 2021 the local council carried out repair works on the park's sports facilities, investing more than 40,000 euros to fix the ground surfaces and repaint the court markings after some of the original equipment had been removed years earlier. The renovation brought the courts back into full use.
