Why does a "castle" sit on a hill above Liberec?

The building went up in 1900–1901, commissioned by Baron Heinrich Liebieg, a local textile industrialist, and designed by architect Josef Schmitz. Rather than a plain viewing platform, Liebieg wanted something that looked like a genuine medieval stronghold — builders even reused stone salvaged from demolished historic structures in Nuremberg to make the illusion more convincing. The complex opened to the public on 1 September 1901 under the name Hohenhabsburg. After the Habsburg monarchy collapsed in 1918, it was renamed Liebigwarte in honor of its founder, and after 1945 it took on its current Czech name, Liberecká výšina.
