Laguna de los Patos

Laguna de los Patos is a small lagoon on the outskirts of Hellín, a town in the province of Albacete, in the region of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. It sits roughly 3.5 km southwest of the town centre, along the road toward Mingogil. The oval-shaped lagoon measures about 400 metres in length and 300 metres in width, with a maximum depth of around 2 metres, and the surrounding area covers approximately 25 hectares. The site is protected for its environmental and educational value and is recognised as a place of local community interest.

To help visitors observe the birds without disturbing them, the site includes purpose-built bird observation hides. There is also a small nature classroom on site, aimed at educational visits, including school groups.

A signposted mountain-biking route (BTT) also runs around the lagoon, which broadens its appeal beyond birdwatchers to anyone looking for an easy outdoor activity close to town.

The lagoon lies just outside Hellín, a short drive from the town centre along the road toward Mingogil. Entry is free and the site is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so a visit can be fitted around any schedule.
