About this place
Entorno del Lago is the main recreational park of Laguna de Duero, a town just south of Valladolid in Castile and León. Built around the town's small lake, it forms the green heart of the community — a space for walking, resting and family fun.
How do you get there?
Laguna de Duero sits a few kilometers south of Valladolid, so arriving by car is the most convenient option — the park provides parking that accommodates wheelchair users as well. From central Valladolid, local buses also reach the town in around fifteen minutes. The park's entrances are adapted for wheelchairs and strollers, making it an easy stop for anyone exploring the Duero Valley area.
What will you see?
Development of the park began in stages from the mid-1980s, when the lakeside area was first cleaned up and a waterfront promenade was laid out. A design competition followed in 1986, and the project took shape gradually over the following decades, reaching its final form in 2008. Today Entorno del Lago is considered the most important and emblematic park in all of Laguna de Duero, both for its size and for its central position in town life.
Inside the park you'll find broad lawns, a children's playground with swings and slides, a basketball court, and various spaces set aside for games and recreation. The lake itself is home to ducks that glide across the water, giving the whole area a calm, intimate feel away from city noise. Dogs are welcome, so it's also a popular spot for a walk with a pet.
A particular highlight was the 2020 outdoor art installation "Lago Encantado" (Enchanted Lake), created by sculptors Lorenzo Duque and Alberto del Campo. The display recreated a fairy-tale world full of trees, mushrooms and butterflies, adding a playful artistic layer to the park's usual scenery for a season.
When should you visit?
Spring and autumn are the best times to come, when temperatures in Castile and León are mild and the greenery around the lake looks its fullest. Summer can bring intense midday heat, so it's worth planning a walk for the morning or evening — those are also the times when locals tend to gather at the playground and sports courts. Winter visits are quieter, but the park stays open and accessible year-round.
