Church of Saint James the Older

The foundation stone was laid in 1627, on plots cleared of demolished burgher houses, right next to Wallenstein's own residence. The design came from Giovanni Battista Pieroni, an Italian architect employed at the duke's court who also worked on fortifications and palaces elsewhere in Bohemia.

Despite this damage, the church has kept its Baroque character and still serves today as the main church of the Roman Catholic parish of Jičín, part of the deanery of the Diocese of Hradec Králové.
