About this place
Riviéra is the largest outdoor swimming complex in Brno, located in the Pisárky district between the Svratka River and Bauerova Street. It was built in 1990 on the site of an earlier riverside spa complex dating back to the early 20th century, and has since become one of the city's most popular spots for summer recreation.
What makes Riviéra stand out?
The defining feature of the complex is its layout: three interconnected pools form a roughly 390-metre-long cascade, built in an artificial channel that once carried a branch of the Svratka River. This gives Riviéra an unusual, elongated shape quite different from the typical rectangular municipal pool.
What pools are on site?
The complex is divided into three sections, each serving a different type of visitor:
- A children's wading pool — the largest of its kind in Brno, able to accommodate up to a thousand children at once. It includes water attractions for younger visitors, including an eight-metre-high, seventy-five-metre-long slide with traffic-light-controlled access.
- A pool for non-swimmers — the middle section of the complex, holding several hundred people at a time.
- A swimmers' pool — the deepest section, which can be divided into several fifty-metre lanes when needed.
Altogether, the site can hold close to 7,850–8,000 visitors, placing Riviéra among the largest facilities of its kind in the Czech Republic.
What else is there besides the pools?
The grounds surrounding the pools are designed for active family time. Visitors will find beach volleyball courts, petanque and skittles pitches, table tennis tables, a playground, and trampolines for younger children. Those looking for more movement can use workout or parkour zones, as well as paths for walking, cycling, and inline skating. Deck chairs, beach umbrellas, and free Wi-Fi are available across the whole area.
When can you visit Riviéra?
The complex operates seasonally, typically from June to August, during daytime and afternoon hours (commonly 9 am to 8 pm). Thanks to its size and wide range of attractions, Riviéra draws both families with young children and visitors looking for a more active day outdoors.
