According to the story, a small window (Croatian: prozor) at the top of the tower let defenders spot approaching danger from far away and prepare in time. Thanks to this early warning, the fortress was reportedly never taken by force — and, as the legend goes, this is how both the hill and the village at its foot came to be called Prozor.
