Parque Temático is a city park in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, stretching along the far end of El Reducto beach. It's a favourite spot among locals for walking, relaxing and enjoying the seafront, right in the heart of the island's capital.

How do you get there?

The park sits at the edge of Arrecife's town centre, as an extension of El Reducto beach, close to landmarks such as Castillo de San Gabriel, UNED Park and Charco de San Ginés, the well-known lagoon in the middle of the city. From most hotels and tourist spots in Arrecife you can walk there in under fifteen minutes along the seafront promenade, making it an easy stop while exploring the capital on foot.

What will you see in the park?

Parque Temático combines green lawns and gardens with a children's playground and a skate park with ramps that draw local teenagers throughout the day. Along the pier and seawall you'll often spot fishermen at work, and just offshore you can make out a shipwreck, one of the distinctive features of this stretch of the Arrecife coastline. A separate area within the park is set aside for dogs.

The park is a popular spot for feeding fish and birds along the shoreline, an activity enjoyed by both children and adults strolling through. In the evening, the park offers views over the illuminated Arrecife skyline and El Reducto beach, making it a pleasant place for a sunset walk.

The city has plans for a major renovation of the park, with an investment of close to 10 million euros. The project includes a calisthenics area of around 935 square metres, a dedicated children's sports zone, a picnic area, and an open-air cinema space of over 1,100 square metres, all aimed at expanding the park's shaded rest areas.

When is the best time to visit?

The park is open year-round and free to enter. Early morning or late afternoon are the most pleasant times to walk here, when temperatures are milder and better suited to a longer stroll along the coast. In the evening the park takes on extra charm thanks to the lighting and the views over the city, making it worth a visit after sunset too.

Given its seafront location, it's worth bringing water and sun protection during the warmer months, since shaded areas can be limited until the planned expansion is completed.
