Parque Lo Morant

Parque Lo Morant is one of the largest urban parks in Alicante, a fully flat twelve-hectare green space in the north of the city, built on the grounds of a former country estate whose name it kept. It opened on 10 May 1987 and has since become a central gathering spot for the surrounding Lo Morant-San Nicolás de Bari, Virgen del Carmen and Virgen del Remedio neighborhoods.

Where is the park located?

The park sits within a grid bounded by Pedro Salinas, Vicente Aleixandre, Pablo Neruda and Lugo streets, in the northern part of Alicante. Because the whole site is level, it works as an easy pedestrian link between neighborhoods on either side, letting people cross a large stretch of the city on foot without dealing with traffic.

What kind of trees and plants grow here?

The wooded zone is dominated by Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), joined by tipu trees (Tipuana tipu) — together they provide year-round shade and help muffle traffic noise from the surrounding streets. White poplars (Populus alba) line the perimeter walking path, keeping it shaded along its full length. A recent renewal project added 320 new trees across eight different species, along with additional shrub planting, further diversifying the park's greenery.
