parc de Les Planes

Parc de Les Planes is the main urban park of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the second-largest city in the Barcelona metropolitan area. Covering roughly 8 hectares, it sits at the meeting point of the Can Serra, Les Planes, La Florida, Pubilla Cases and Sant Josep neighbourhoods — an area once occupied by farmland and farmhouses, and later, in the 19th century, by brick factories.

How to get there?

The easiest way in is by metro: lines L1 and L5 stop at Can Serra station, only about a 2-minute walk from the park entrance. The park is also served by city bus lines (including M14, CRB, N2, N28 and LH1) and by Rodalies train lines R1, R3, R4, R7 and RG1 to L'Hospitalet de Llobregat station, roughly a 9-minute walk away. The park was created in 1986 on the site of former brick factories, and it still carries visible traces of that past — preserved chimneys from the old brickworks stand among the greenery and have become the most recognisable feature of the place. The vegetation is surprisingly varied for an urban park: around 1,300 trees representing 41 different species grow here, making Les Planes one of the greenest spaces in the city.
