Who was Angela of the Cross?
Ángela de la Cruz (1846–1932) was a nun from Seville and the founder of the Company of the Sisters of the Cross, a religious order still active today that cares for elderly and sick people in their own homes, distributes food to those in need, and runs care homes and boarding schools for orphaned children. Pope John Paul II beatified her in Seville on 5 November 1982 and canonised her in Madrid on 4 May 2003.
