Llamas Park

What is this place?

Also known as Parque Atlántico de Las Llamas or Parque de la Vaguada de las Llamas, this urban park covers roughly 11 hectares in the middle of Santander. The first phase opened to the public on 11 May 2007, and it has since become one of the city's key recreational spaces. Its defining feature is a naturalized wetland lagoon fringed with reed beds, surrounded by broad lawns and a network of walking paths.

Worth singling out is Escenario Santander, a concert venue set within the park. On the first or second Sunday of each month it hosts a popular vintage flea market, and throughout summer it becomes a stage for open-air concerts and events that pull in crowds from across the city.

The most convenient entry points are near the Palacio de Deportes de Santander, the Universidad de Cantabria campus, Avenida de los Castros and Avenida de la Constitución.
