Why is it called La Puntual?
The name comes from a play by Santiago Rusiñol, a leading figure of Catalan modernisme, titled "L'Auca del Senyor Esteve." One of its key scenes takes place in a haberdashery shop called "La Puntual," set in the same Ribera/Born district where the theatre now stands. The founders borrowed the name as a tribute to that local literary reference.

The theatre opened on 23 September 2005. Its auditorium seats just 50 people, making it the smallest professional stage in Barcelona. The programme is built exclusively around puppets, marionettes, Chinese shadow theatre, and other manipulated objects animated live on stage. The theatre sits right in the heart of Born, an area easily reached on foot from the Gothic Quarter and Barceloneta. The surrounding streets are narrow and largely pedestrian, so driving is impractical - it's best to leave the car outside Ciutat Vella.

The box office opens Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, one hour before each show. The phone line operates with varying hours through the week (Monday 9am-2pm, Tuesday-Friday 9am-5:30pm, weekends 9am-2pm and 4-8pm). Ticket prices start at around 9 euros, and seats can be booked online or by phone.
