At the start of the 20th century the house became the main residence of the Ferrer family, and it is from them that the gardens take their name. The former residence still stands within the park: a three-storey building with a ground floor and two upper floors, now a tangible trace of the bourgeois architecture of its era. The property belongs to the city, which carried out a thorough renovation of the grounds in recent years. The work included clearing and tidying the vegetation, laying out accessible walking paths, and installing public furniture such as benches, chairs and tables, along with drainage systems and street lighting. The garden reopened to residents in July 2018 as a fully functioning recreational space.
