Franjo Krežma Concert Hall
About this place
Franjo Krežma Concert Hall is the first dedicated concert hall in Osijek, located inside the Cultural Center Osijek at Knez Trpimir Street 2A. It opened on 27 September 2024 and quickly became one of the main addresses for live music in eastern Croatia.
What is this place?
The hall covers about 1,000 square metres and seats roughly 400 people. It is regarded as the second-largest concert hall in Croatia, after the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, and as one of the most modern in the country. The interior was designed for acoustic music: symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and solo recitals.
Who is it named after?
The hall honours Franjo Krežma, a violinist and composer born in Osijek who was active in the second half of the 19th century. Giving the city's leading concert stage his name is a nod to Osijek's own musical heritage.
How was it built?
The project cost around 1.7 million euros, funded jointly by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media and the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds. The Cultural Center Osijek runs the hall and hosts a regular programme of events there.
What concerts take place here?
The opening concert was given by the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra under conductor Pascal Rophé. The 2024/2025 season included the "Krežmin ciklus" series of visiting orchestras and soloists, a Sunday series featuring local performers, and a free series for young musicians. In April 2026 the Pannonian Philharmonic performed here with cellist Gabriel Schwabe.

Who is it for?
Classical music lovers travelling in Slavonia, and anyone curious about Osijek's modern cultural architecture who wants to hear a concert in an acoustically designed hall. Osijek lies on the Drava River in the heart of Slavonia, so a concert evening pairs well with a walk along the riverside promenade and through the historic Tvrđa old town, which is a short distance from the centre.
