Beskydok

Beskydok (also known as Beskydek) is a 953-metre peak sitting right on the Czech-Slovak border near Velké Karlovice in Moravia. It's the highest point of the Turzovská vrchovina (Turzov Highland), a range that forms a natural extension of the Silesian-Moravian Beskids toward Slovakia.

How do you get to Beskydok?

The ascent follows a marked hiking trail (red waymarks) that crosses the area around Velké Karlovice and runs along the border ridge. No special equipment or climbing experience is needed — it's a straightforward mountain walk suitable for anyone with average fitness. Most hikers start from the centre of Velké Karlovice or one of the nearby hamlets, from where the trail climbs gradually through forest and clearings toward the border ridge.

When should you visit?

Late spring through early autumn (May to October) is the best window, when trails are dry and the forest is fully green. In winter the route can be snow-covered and calls for proper footwear or snowshoes — better suited to hikers used to winter mountain conditions. Velké Karlovice itself is a year-round base: popular with walkers and cyclists in summer, and with skiers making use of the surrounding cross-country and downhill runs in winter.
