The building's history

The current town hall wasn't purpose-built as a government office. Until 1942 the property, known as Casa de Correa, was a privately owned townhouse. That year the Baiona town council purchased it to serve as the new seat of local administration, and in 1943 the building was formally inaugurated as the town hall. It has functioned as the Concello de Baiona ever since — the working seat of the mayor, councillors and municipal staff.

The building itself is a former residential townhouse adapted for administrative use: a dignified façade and understated, well-kept architecture set it apart from the neighbouring houses in the old quarter.
