Prašivá

Praszywa (Prašivá) is a forested summit in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids in the Czech Republic, the highest point at the northern end of the Ropice ridge and the northernmost peak of the whole range.

Where is Praszywa and how high is it?

The peak rises to 843 metres above sea level in the municipality of Vyšní Lhoty, in Cieszyn Silesia on the Czech side of the border. It closes off, from the north, a long ridge running from Kalužný vrch through Ropice and Ropička to Čupel — Ropice itself (1082 m) is the highest point of the entire range, while Praszywa forms its outermost, lowest spur, reaching toward the Ostrava Basin. The wooden pilgrimage chapel of St. Anthony of Padua from 1640 and the mountain lodge with its observation tower from 1921 — the landmarks most people associate with this pair of summits — actually stand on the neighbouring, lower peak of Mała Praszywa, not on Praszywa proper. Mixing the two up is easy, since most hikers visit both summits on the same walk along the ridge.

That's why most visitors combine both summits into a single ridge hike rather than aiming for Praszywa alone.
