About this place
Old Park in Białystok is a naturalistic park with modernist elements in the Centrum District of Białystok, the capital of Podlaskie Voivodeship. Named after Prince Józef Poniatowski, it was created in 1895–1897 on the site of a former mill pond on the Biała River and forms part of the palace garden complex. Covering 4.76 ha, it is a good place for a short walk.
- The park’s layout combines a naturalistic design with modernist touches, so a stroll here gives you a sense of how landscape ideas were shaped at the turn of the 20th century.
- It was designed by Walerian Kronenberg together with Teodor Chrząński, which adds historical interest for visitors who like to look at urban greenery as part of a larger city composition.
- Its setting on the former mill pond site along the Biała River makes it a calm green space tied closely to the history of Białystok’s palace gardens.
For a visit, comfortable shoes are a good idea, especially if you want to take your time and notice the park’s layout and setting. It works well for anyone looking for a quiet stop in the city, a gentle walk, or a bit of greenery close to the center.
