Park Ocalałych in Łódź

Park Ocalałych in Łódź

Łódź, Poland

About this place

Park Ocalałych in Łódź is a memorial park in Łódź dedicated to the people who survived the Łódź Ghetto, which was created and run by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. It was officially opened on 30 August 2004, exactly 60 years after the ghetto was liquidated. Set in the former area of the Łódź Ghetto, it offers a quiet place for reflection and a short walk.

  • The park stands on land that once belonged to the Łódź Ghetto, between Wojska Polskiego Street and the allotment gardens on Sporna Street.
  • It lies in the valley of the Lodz River, in the area next to the wartime borders of the Litzmannstadt Ghetto on Smugowa Street.
  • The whole site was designed by Grażyna Ojrzyńska, which gives it a planned memorial character rather than that of an ordinary city park.

If you visit, it is worth coming for a calm, unhurried stop and wearing comfortable shoes for a gentle walk. This is a good choice for travelers interested in history, remembrance, and places tied closely to Łódź’s wartime past.
