Saxon Garden

Saxon Garden

Warszawa, Poland

About this place

Saxon Garden is a 15.5-hectare public garden in central Warsaw, in the Śródmieście district, facing Piłsudski Square. Founded in the late 17th century, it opened to the public in 1727 and is regarded as the oldest public park in the city, as well as one of the first publicly accessible parks in the world. It is a good place for a short walk and a calm break in the middle of the city.

Na miejscu można liczyć przede wszystkim na:

  • a large historic green space laid out in the heart of Warsaw, with the formal character of an old city garden
  • views toward Piłsudski Square, which give the park a clearly urban setting and make it easy to combine with nearby sightseeing
  • a chance to follow one of the earliest examples of a public park open to everyone, which adds historical context to an ordinary stroll

For a comfortable visit, it is worth coming for a relaxed walk and checking the weather, since this is an open-air spot best enjoyed on a dry day. It is a good choice for visitors who want a quiet, central place to rest between sightseeing stops.
