Museo Municipal Ramón María Aller Ulloa

The Museo Municipal Ramón María Aller Ulloa in Lalín is a small but distinctive museum dedicated to one of the most celebrated residents of this Galician town — the priest, astronomer and mathematician Ramón María Aller Ulloa (1878–1966). It opened its doors in 1989 inside the very house where he lived and worked, a building that had also served as the first astronomical observatory in Galicia.

The visit begins in Aller's former study, preserved with its original furniture, scientific instruments, documents and photographs. A separate highlight is his personal library, holding hundreds of volumes that supported his lifelong research. Another section displays works by the painter Xosé Otero Abeledo, known as Laxeiro, who donated a collection of his pieces to the town of Lalín in 1974. The undoubted highlight is the restored astronomical observatory. In 2011 a full recovery project was carried out: a new telescope for night-sky observation was installed, and the old dome was renovated using and preserving its original wooden structure. As a result, visitors can experience the very place where Aller conducted his research in a form close to its original state.
