The first mentions of climbing at Les Banyadores date to the late 1980s, including in the local climbing magazine Extrem. The pioneers were the Estrader brothers and Luis Galcerán, who bolted the first 28 routes, mainly in the Yosemite Slab and Classic sectors. Over the following decades the area was steadily expanded and became one of the most frequently visited climbing spots around Cabrera de Mar and Cabrils — today it's sometimes described as overcrowded given its popularity with local climbers.

Given the Mediterranean climate of the Maresme region, the best climbing conditions are usually found in spring and autumn, when temperatures are mild and the rock doesn't overheat under direct sun. In summer, the heat can make technical slab climbing uncomfortable, particularly around midday, so early morning sessions are recommended.
