About this place
Kampinos National Park is one of Poland’s most unique natural escapes, located just outside Warsaw. It is worth visiting for its rare mix of forests, sand dunes, marshes, and quiet wilderness so close to a major city.
Here you can enjoy long hiking and cycling trails, spot wildlife such as moose, deer, and many bird species, and experience peaceful landscapes that change from pine woods to wet meadows. In some areas, you may also discover traces of history, including old settlements and wartime memorial sites.
- Best visited in spring, summer, or early autumn for the nicest weather and most active wildlife
- Wear comfortable shoes, as some trails can be sandy or muddy
- Bring water and snacks, especially for longer routes
- Stay on marked paths to protect the protected habitats
- Ideal for a day trip from Warsaw, but easy to extend into a full nature getaway
