Gaja
About this place
Gaja in Barbaresco is one of Italy's most acclaimed wine estates, founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja with just two hectares of vineyards in Piedmont. The winery gained international renown under Angelo Gaja, who took charge in 1970 and is credited with revolutionising Italian winemaking, earning the title 'undisputed king of Barbaresco'. The estate today covers 100 hectares across the Barbaresco and Barolo zones of Piedmont, with additional vineyards in Montalcino and Bolgheri, producing 18 wines and 350,000 bottles annually. The flagship Barbaresco DOCG is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from 14 different vineyards within the Barbaresco zone.
