About this place
Aquacentrum Agricola is a year-round pool and sauna complex in Jáchymov, a historic spa town in the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) in the western Czech Republic, close to the German border. The facility occupies a heritage building that once housed the town's state spa baths, built between 1906 and 1911 as part of the expansion of Jáchymov's radon spa. In 2009 the building underwent a major renovation and extension, turning it into the only year-round aquapark anywhere in the Ore Mountains.
What's inside?
The centre is built around an indoor 25-metre swimming pool complemented by a smaller children's pool. Visitors looking to unwind can use the massage whirlpool baths, which accommodate up to ten people at once, while those after more active fun have a water slide at their disposal. A Kneipp path is also laid out for guests who prefer a gentler form of therapy, stimulating circulation through alternating contact with warm and cold water.
The Sauna Pit — a themed sauna zone
A distinctive feature of the complex is the so-called Sauna Pit (Saunový důl), styled around the region's mining past, once known for silver and uranium extraction. It includes a steam sauna with a starry-sky lighting effect, a Finnish sauna with a stove shaped like a mining cart, an infrared sauna with a salt panel, and an herbal sauna. After warming up, guests can cool off in a dedicated plunge pool.
Additional facilities
Beyond the pools and saunas, Aquacentrum Agricola offers wellness treatments, a solarium, a fitness room and a salt cave. An on-site café with a children's play corner makes the venue a practical stop for families. The complex is open daily, with afternoon opening on Mondays, and admission prices are affordable, starting at a modest amount for adults and less for children.
Why visit?
Jáchymov has long drawn spa guests thanks to its natural radon springs used in balneotherapy, and Aquacentrum Agricola makes an excellent complement to a spa stay or a trip through the Ore Mountains, offering active relaxation regardless of season or weather. The blend of historic architecture with modern pool and sauna infrastructure attracts both patients from nearby sanatoriums and travellers passing through the region, for instance on the way to nearby Boží Dar or across the border into the German Erzgebirge.
